Upgrading to hard pipes

I've ordered most things I need and realised I haven't got the 'o' rings. I'm a complete novice when it comes to this so I'm in need of advice on to what size I need. I got 50-51mm and a 60-51mm couplers from creationmotorsport_uk on eBay as recommended on previous posts.

171266960379 that's the item number for a pic of the part. I'm on my phone and useless at adding pics sorry.

I know I'd have to get 50mm and 60mm but don't understand the other sizes it's coming up with like thickness...

Hope someone can help
Thanks

Is there a cable that'll let me connect a USB drive/stick into the media port & control it from the Swing radio?

What are the options? Got no Apple devices (+ dont really want any!)

Noisy tapping knocking Fabia from timing belt area 1.4 engine! Driving me mental

Hi guys,
Firstly thanks for maintaining such a useful wealth of information. I have recently bought an auto Fabia '05 1.4L with 56,000 on the clock full Skoda service history and new MOT. The car was sold to me as scrap value due to an unusual knocking noise coming from the engine. I realised the diamond in the rough and decided to take the plunge for £350 as most things are repairable (most things).

I did intend to drive it until it completely failed but I've come to love my little Skoda and would like to get it repaired. So this is my dilemma, Skoda want £66 just to look under the bonnet, I'm not willing to throw money at, but if you good people could point me in the right direction I could instruct my local garage on what to repair.
So the noise. It's a rattle / tapping coming from the aux belt or timing belt. It's linked to the RPM of the engine and gets fast the higher the revs.

There is no detriment to the driving of the car which is fully topped up with oil and driving like new. It had the toothed belt and tensionor replaced about 20,000 miles ago (4 years ago).
Could it be the Cam belt tensionor gone? Tapperts? Valves? I can't afford for my mechanics to start replacing things in the hope it solves the noise. So your help would be much appreciated. I'll try and post a video shortly.

Fabia vrs driving me mad

Had a slight vibration under acceleration at speeds over 60mph and as cars done over 160,000 miles I decided to change the top gearbox mount as it looked worn and after removal it looked even worse. Got the part from tps and after fitting I started car up and now the car seems to shake on tick over even worse than it did before. There's a lot of movement from the engine back to front under load and on tick over and to me it looks like it's coming from the dog bone mount although this was replaced only a few thousand miles ago when clutch and DMF was replaced and was purchased from skoda main dealer. Could this be faulty or the wrong one? Does it fit other skodas?

Has any one had one of these put on the front. I'm after something slightly smaller to go on the side of the car. Either that or something 3/4 size that will stick on. Anyone got best idea where to get one from? Thanks

Broken Isofix Mounting

Hi, my dad is looking into getting the Fabia Estate. Very impressed by the 1.2 90 engine and spacious interior for his needs. Only niggling point is that one of the plastic isofix mounting points has ripped off and bit of inner foam exposed.

Can it be rectified via DIY of should the dealer sort this out?

I have a set of rear H/B mudflaps in original unopened packaging-free to anyone who wants to pick them up from Desborough, Northants.

A certain Czech firm sent me 2 sets of rears along with 1 set of the fronts.

RARB installed (with pics)

So last night we fitted a new H+R RARB to my Fabia vRS Estate! Already had H+R lowering springs so thought this would be a good addition. Lots of postive reviews on here so took the plunge and ordered one. The car was fantastic fun around Castle Combe recently but still had quite a lot of body-roll to contend with despite the uprated springs so decided it was time to go for it. Dave (sharkrider) has been encouraging me to get one for awhile now haha! :D

My brother did the majority of the work as he is very handy at spannering and I'm definitely not so much... :)

Few pics of the process. We raised the back of the car on ramps to get better access:

Next step undo the bolts at the bottom of each damper:

IMG_2919.jpg

Then attach one end of the RARB using the longer bolts provided:

IMG_2920.jpg

Next lever the other end of the RARB into position and insert the corresponding bolt.  This bit is quite tight! :

IMG_2921.jpg

Next apply some copper grease to the rubber bushes:

Dirty boy :p :D :

IMG_2925.jpg

Next mount the bushes on the bar and attach them to the rear beam using the supplied clips. This bit was the hardest of the entire installation! You have to bend the clips into shape to get them to fit over the beam which isn't easy. We also then found that the bolts (M8 hex 70mm I think) supplied werent long enough to close the clip! Had to go and buy some 10mm longer ones which was a pain but did the trick...

Tightened everything up and all done!

Was quite late (and dark!) by the time we finished so only got to have a quick 10min blast in the car to check all was ok but first impressions very good! No creaks or rattels so far and the ride quality is unaffected as you would expect. Didn't notice any huge change in the handling though to be honest, allthough it was only a brief drive so too early to report back on the benefits. Will update once Ive had a chance to thrash the car some more and get stuck in to a few bends! :p

Little update thread!

Evening all. Just thought I'd do a little update thread.

Started with this image.jpeg image.jpeg

And gone to this: usual mods of grille, fog tint, fog surround, smaller plate (ready for my forge fmic) which I'll do when next off. Changed the cam belt. Was going to stick the bilstein coilovers on this week. But didn't get around to it, due to work. Pastyboy has sorted me out with some custom badges for her and hutch has sent me some depo projectors in the post as well. So I'll update once I'm done. But so far, she's looking a little better!

How much air should be coming out of the centre console vents?

Just trying to figure out if there is something wrong with my car.

When the heater is on "heat" and blowing air at you, should the same amount of air be coming out of the central vents (next to hazard lights switch) as the vents at the side near the Windows?

There is a lot less hot air that comes out of my centre ones that the side ones!

Evening

I've been looking at investing in some Springs for the Estate but Ideally I would like Shocks & Springs something Like Koni's

Don't really want coilovers getting old & budget under £400

Is The Hatchback the same as the Estate ?

Or does the weight mean I require different setup as not everywhere advertises what fit's the vRS Estate

Thanks

Sorry if this is duplicated somewhere else, but I am using Tapatalk and any time I try and search for topics it always gives no results.

Basically my wife has just bought a 2013 fabia monte carlo.

I have genuine vcds and want to enable coming home lights. I have ticked the box but nothing happens.

I have read they can't be enabled and some say they can. Can anyone help?

Recommend me bright white fog bulbs

Looking at sticking some new bulbs in the front foglights as both have given up the ghost.

I did a search on here expecting to see 4,387 results but there weren't any relating to bulbs, only wiring issues etc.

Can anyone recommend a good set of bright white bulbs? I don't have tinted foglights and don't like the look of the standard 'warm' white the normal bulbs emit so want to upgrade to 'ice' white.

Anyone able to offer an opinion or recommendation?

I'm thinking of getting the retrofit armrest for the front seats. the official part is around £140 which is a bit too much.

Anyone used either the official retrofit or a 3rd party armrest on the Mk3?

cheers

ABS Light/VAGCOM Midlands

Hi all,

Joined up on here donkeys ago when my gf of the time had a Polo but allow me to introduce myself.

Jim, originally from Kent but now lives in Leicester and works at Silverstone circuit. In September I bought a Fabia diesel as a commuter car (track modified Volvo S60 T5 returning mid 25s mpg isn't great doing 100 miles a day and regular hacks to Kent, and the winter is too cold for the motorbike:) ).

All in I'm pretty impressed with the little thing. I've put 25k (now on 153k) on it and the thing mechanically feels pretty robust. It's actually fun going to something on soft suspension with only 100 or so hp and getting the best out of it! I've fitted some good tires (had the thing try and spin on me on the crap fitted when I bought it), changed the oil every 3 or 4 months and changed the thermostat and the thing hasn't missed a beat... It's impressed me so much I'm in the market for an old non-PD 1.9 Octavia estate if anyone knows a good one going!

Untl this morning...

when the ABS light lit up and the warning light flashing. I can confirm the ABS is no longer working... I'm assuming it is just a sensor or reluctor ring issue, but would like to know what sensor it is? My android Torque app doesn't show any faults so I would imagine it is a VAGCOM job. Does any kind soul in the Midlands or Kent (live southeast of Leicester, my Volvo mechanic is north west of Leicester, my work is at Silverstone and my parents live in Kent... so I'm all over the country quite a bit!) mind lending me 20 minutes of time on VAGCOM so I can at least isolate which wheel the car thinks is funny? It would be greatly appreciated!

P.S: On my Volvo the reluctor rings were a separate part costing approximately £3 each that fitted on the hub assembly. Am I right in thinking on the Fab they only come as part of the whole assembly?

Cheers

James
